Wendy Wu Tours
Wendy Wu. Owner. Creator. Entrepreneur.
Starting as a travel agent, in a small office in Epping, she created and escorted her first tour of China in 1994. From there, the company went from strength to strength, and today operate tours to over 22 countries, and has offices in Sydney, London, New York, Auckland, Xian and Shanghai.
Wendy has continued to drive the business with her energy, and has proudly achieved many significant milestones along the way. She pioneered the first Western tours to the Nine Villages Valley (Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan) and Zhangjiajie – reportedly the inspiration for the landscapes in the movie Avatar, ten years later. She also organised the first group to visit Everest Base Camp from the Tibetan side in 1999 – and in 2008, she was appointed as the official ticket supplier to the Beijing Olympic Games.
In 2016, Wendy was voted #9 on the 2016 Travel Weekly Women in Travel Power List, and in 2017, she was inducted into the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame, only the 6th woman worldwide to accept this honour.
